PRC National College Entrance Exam/Gao Kao

Students with Gao Kao curriculum but do not sit for Gao Kao for any reasons and those who choose to take AP or SAT Subject Tests on their own must also apply under this category.

With Gao Kao Score
At least 80% in the average of the total Gao Kao score. It is compulsory to submit the Verification Report by CSSD https://www.chsi.com.cn/en/.

Yet to sit for Gao Kao
Existing Gao 3 students with good passes in Gao 1 and Gao 2 results may apply.

Important Changes (Academic Year 2027 Onwards)

  • Interviews: NTU will no longer use Gao 1 and Gao 2 results to determine interview eligibility.
  • Mandatory Submission: All applicants must submit their actual Gaokao results within 3 days of their release to be considered for admission interviews.
  • Admission interviews will be conducted in July (applicable to those sitting for 2027 Gaokao)


Aptitude Scholastic Test (AST) (if applicable) 
Submitting AST results is optional for admission but will enhance one’s chance of admission if one has excellent AST results, a minimum of 3 AST subjects (English, Maths and another subject). Taking Economics as 3rd subject only will mean one is eligible for non-Engineering, non-Science programmes only. Submitting AST results without Gaokao or Gao 1 and Gao 2 transcripts is not accepted. And

Satisfy one of the following English language requirements:

  • IELTS – A minimum Overall Band Score of 6.0, Writing 6.0, Verbal 6.0
  • TOEFL/TOEFL iBT® Home Edition 

    – Minimum overall score of 90, with 25 in Speaking (internet-based);
    – OR minimum overall score of 600 (paper-based) [tests taken before 2026];
    – OR minimum overall score of 4.5, with 4.5 in Speaking [TOEFL iBT taken from January 2026 onwards].

  • SAT– a score of at least 1250 (Redesigned SAT from March 2016, Essay not required).
  • PTE Academic – a score of at least Overall 55, Speaking 55.
  • AST English Test – a score of at least 215 marks.
  • ACT with Writing - a minimum Composite score of at least 30.
  • C1 Advanced (formerly known as Cambridge English Advanced (CAE))- a minimum of Overall score 170, Writing 170, Speaking 170.)

The English language requirements for highly competitive programmes, as well as for non-Science and non-Engineering programmes, double degree programmes, and double major programmes, may be more stringent than those stated above.

Direct Admission
Medallists (Gold, Silver or Bronze) of International Science Olympiad Competitions in Biology (IBO), Chemistry (IChO), Physics (IPhO), Mathematics (IMO), Informatics (IOI), Astronomy (IAO), Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA), Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) and Nuclear Science (INSO) will be considered for admission more favourably to programmes related to their field of achievement. Admission to programmes not closely related to the field of achievement will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Interview may be conducted prior to the admission decision. 

To apply, you must be in the final year of your high school or already completed your high school.

NTU Entrance Examination (NTU EE)
Not required.

Admission interview
Final admission decisions will include an interview. Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview. Applicants who do not receive an interview invitation will be informed of the status of their application.

Programmes Eligibility
Eligible to apply for all programmes if fulfil the  minimum subject requirements for International Qualifications of the programmes. 

Applicants with final results available after April 1 of the application year will not be eligible to be considered for the LKCMedicine programme and Renaissance Engineering programme in this admission exercise. 

Note:
1. Admission is highly competitive, especially for non-citizens, due to limited places available.  The admission point varies from year to year and between different programmes.  Meeting the minimum requirements to apply does not guarantee admission to any of the programmes in NTU.

2. The primary factor in admission decision is the high school academic performance. 

3. Current Senior Middle 3 students if admitted must upload their Grade 12 results and Graduation Certificate to complete the application. Failing which, the admission decision will be revoked.

This form is applicable only to students with PRC Gao Kao Qualification.

This form may take you 20 minutes or more to complete and must be filled out in English. Before you begin, please prepare the following information, as the application must be submitted in one session. You will not be able to save and return to complete it later.

  • your passport / Identity Card number. Singaporeans / Singapore Permanent Residents to provide Singapore IC number.
  • your home, postal address (in English) and phone number
  • your educational results since high school
    • Senior Middle 1, 2 results slip (if still studying in Senior Middle 3)
    • Gao Kao results (if already taken)
    • University transcript (if applicable)
  • TOEFL or SAT or IELTS or Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) or ACT with Writing score sheet
  • AMESON Scholastic Test Score (if taken)
  • Advanced Placement (AP) score (if taken)

You will receive an application number after your application is successfully submitted. Please login with the password you have created in the application form to pay the application fee and upload the required supporting documents. Your application cannot be processed until application fee and supporting documents are received.
