Join us for a Second Major in Sustainability Career Networking event and hear from distinguished guests Prof. Abhay Pathak (Director of SAIL, Associate Professor at NBS) and Lea Klein (Co-founder and Asia Head of Jobs_that_make_sense). This event includes a sharing of sustainability career paths and a dialogue session moderated by Prof. Janice Lee (Associate Professor at ASE and Program Coordinator of Second Major in Sustainability).
About the Speakers:
Abhay Pathak is Associate Professor of Practice in Sustainability at Nanyang Business School, NTU, Singapore. He is also associated with Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC), Enterprise Singapore, as an Assessor of accreditation of management system certification schemes of International Standards.
He has worked in corporate sector (manufacturing) for nearly 3 decades in the field of EHS & Sustainability, right from policy/strategy to practice covering entire value chain from R&D, sourcing, manufacturing to end-of-life of products. Before joining NTU, he was Senior Director (Sustainability) with HWASEUNG Enterprise, a manufacturing company HQ in South Korea, with +25 operations across Vietnam, Indonesia & China and prior to that worked with Tata Motors and Bajaj Auto in India as Head of Sustainability and EHS, respectively.
During his corporate tenure, he has worked on several sustainability initiatives like; Net Zero, RE100, RTS (Rooftop Solar), Coal Phase-out, Green Building/LEED, Water Neutrality, Zero Waste to Landfill, Zero Accidents and Socially Responsible Value Chain. He has implemented advanced initiatives such as; Science Based Targets (SBTi), Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Design for Environment, Circular Economy, Sustainable Supply Chain and published varied sustainability/ESG disclosures as per GRI, IR, CDP, DJSI and achieved global rankings.
In addition to Sustainability, he is a qualified legal professional and actively engaged in development of national /international Policy & Regulatory Framework as well as International Standards (ISO-14001 & ISO-45001) related to EHS & Sustainability. He was a member of Steering Committee of UNFCCC Fashion Industry Charter on Climate Action.
Talk Abstract:
During the talk, Abhay will share his professional journey covering his educational background, corporate experience of 3 decades, beginning as an Environmental professional to EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) professional to becoming a Sustainable Development professional. He has worked on end-to-end sustainability in corporate sector and witnessed the evolution of sustainability as an early practitioner in the field. He will share his experience and exposure to various corporate functions across R&D, sourcing, manufacturing, distribution and end-of-life of products, and the challenges faced and some of his key achievements and how it has helped him in his career development and growth.
Léa Klein is the Asia Head of Jobs_that_makesense, a platform connecting talents with impact-driven careers. Based in Southeast Asia since 2015, she previously founded and led makesense’s regional operations, scaling citizen engagement and social innovation across the SouthEast Asia region. Léa now drives the expansion of Jobs_that_makesense in Asia, helping thousands of individuals access green and social economy jobs while supporting mission-driven employers to grow stronger teams. She works at the intersection of climate action, workforce development, and systems change, collaborating with civil society, funders, and public institutions to shape a more just and sustainable future.
