Specialisation for School of CEE students
Explore seven niche specialisations designed to deepen your expertise and elevate the value of your degree.
Courses for respective specialisation must be completed at NTU and cannot be taken during an overseas exchange. Additionally, courses for which the Flexible Grading Option (FGO) has been exercised will not be counted towards the award of the specialisation.
Students can declare up to two specialisations, provided all academic requirements for both are fulfilled.
Civil Infrastructure
About
The Professional Engineers Board Singapore recognize graduates with the B.Eng. (Environmental Engineering) with specialisation in Civil Infrastructure to be eligible for registration as Professional Engineer (PE) in Civil Engineering.
This Professional Engineer qualification would be useful if you eventually decide to practise in the construction and built environment industry after you graduate.

Complete all five courses with letter grades, and you will receive a certification letter upon graduation, recognised by the Professional Engineers Board Singapore.

These courses provide B.Eng. (Environmental Engineering) graduates with solid knowledge in structural analysis and design, as well as soil mechanics, complementing their extensive expertise in environmental engineering, hydraulics, and hydrology. Depending on your curriculum, these courses may be taken as Core (if listed as such), Major PE, or Elective courses.

Geotechnical Engineering
About
All engineering structures are founded in soils and rocks. Geotechnical engineering is one of the core disciplines of Civil Engineering that studies the mechanical behaviour of soils and rocks, under loading as part of the design of excavation, foundation, underground tunnel, land reclamation and slope stability among other infrastructures.
Specialised expertise in geotechnical engineering is highly sought after in the industry. This specialisation equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to enter and excel in the geotechnical sector upon graduation.
