WKWSCI Booth @ Nanyang Auditorium (Basement 1)

Drop by the WKWSCI booth to chat with our students and staff, ask questions about our undergraduate programmes, and learn more about student life at the school.

If you’d like to visit the WKWSCI building, student guides will lead walking groups from Nanyang Auditorium at 10:30am and 11:30am, bringing you directly to the school to continue your exploration.

Our Academic Tracks

WKWSCI’s academic tracks allow you to focus on specific areas of communication while building strong disciplinary foundations.

You may specialise in one track, combine multiple tracks, or take a broader interdisciplinary approach—depending on how you wish to structure your studies.

Broadcast Media & Cinema Studies
Explore film and television production, and examine Asian and global cinema across genres and formats.
Suited for: visual storytelling, creative production, media culture.
Data Science & Media Studies
Analyse data to understand media systems, platforms, and digital behaviour—and translate insights into clearer decisions.
Suited for: data-driven thinking, trends, audience and platform insights.
Strategic Communication for the Digital Age
Develop skills in strategic planning and campaign development, and explore innovative media formats that shape engagement and impact.
Suited for: branding, campaigns, community and audience engagement.
Journalism & Media Policies
Explore journalism and media learning—from reporting and writing to photography, video, ethics, and policy.
Suited for: public issues, responsible media practice, storytelling with purpose.

Programme Structure
127 Academic Units (AUs)
For Communication Studies (CS), CSBU, and CSGR—balancing core training, interdisciplinary learning, and academic flexibility.
Interdisciplinary & Collaborative Core (ICC) 35 AUs
Learn with students from other disciplines to broaden perspectives and strengthen collaborative skills.
Major Requirements 61 AUs
Build strong foundations in communication, media, and information studies, with opportunities to deepen specific interests.
Broadening & Deepening Electives (BDEs) 31 AUs
Use electives to explore beyond your major—or deepen expertise in selected areas, depending on your goals.
Note for CSBU & CSGR students
Most BDEs will be used to fulfil second major requirements. Remaining BDEs may be used to explore other academic interests, subject to programme guidelines.

GOING OVERSEAS FOR ADVANCED REPORTING
(GO-FAR)

A hands-on journalism module where students work as foreign correspondents, reporting from overseas locations and producing stories grounded in local contexts.


OVERSEAS DOCUMENTARIES YOU SHOULD SEE (ODYSSEE)

Students travel overseas to develop documentary projects that examine social, cultural, and economic issues through long-form visual storytelling.


CANNES LIONS INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF CREATIVITY (CANNES)
Students participate in one of the world’s leading creative communications festivals, engaging with industry leaders and global perspectives shaping contemporary practice.
