As per the guideline, a minimum of 12AU of the specialisation courses are required for the specialisation to be printed on transcript. The specialisations offered in the MSEM programme meet the criteria and hence specialisations shall to be shown on transcript.

To graduate from the MSEM, students are required to achieve a minimum CGPA of 2.50.

The MSEM programme is clearly differentiated and serves complementary roles in the University’s portfolio of PGCs.

    • Distinct Audience and Career Goals: the MSEM equips students with a broad skill set to transition into managerial roles within engineering context. In contrast, the specialised MSc programmes prepare individuals seeking to deepen their expertise in specific fields.
    • Curriculum Focus and Depth: The specialisations within the MSEM programme offer a broad overview of each area (e.g., Project Management, Supply Chain Engineering) as part of a wider engineering management education. In contrast, the specialised MSc programmes offer a deep dive into their respective fields, covering advanced topics, methodologies, and practices.
    • Complementary rather than Competitive: The MSEM programme and the specialised MSc programmes serve complementary roles in the university's portfolio. While there may be some overlap in content, the depth, focus, and target audience of each programme are distinct, minimising the risk of cannibalization while meeting diverse market needs.

The admissions requirements for the MSEM are as follows:

      • Eligibility: A Bachelor’s degree with honours or its equivalent in Engineering, Science, Management, Economics or related discipline from an institution of recognised standing. This is a minimum requirement which does not guarantee admission; selection is on a competitive basis.
      • English Proficiency Requirements is required if your first language is not English. Applicants may be waived from this requirement if the applicant has completed the first degree taught entirely in English, situated in an English-speaking country, for example (non-exhaustive list) Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, United Kingdom, USA.

      Admissions

What does the admissions committee look for?
Applications are reviewed holistically. Key considerations include your undergraduate institution, academic performance (GPA or degree results), and relevant experience (internships and/or full-time work). The committee also considers motivation, resilience, career goals, and cohort diversity.

      Is work experience required?
Work experience is not required for full-time applicants. Relevant internships or professional experience are considered where applicable.

Are GMAT or GRE scores required?
No. GMAT and GRE scores are not required, though they may be submitted to support your application.

If I have multiple short internships, is that helpful?
Yes. Internships are considered relevant experience.

If my grades improved over time, will that be considered?
Yes. You should highlight any improvement and provide relevant context in your application.

      Are interviews required?
Interviews are not routinely conducted. Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview if clarification is needed.

Can I apply if my research experience is mainly theoretical or computational?
Yes. Relevant research experience in theoretical, computational, or experimental areas is considered.

Will research or industry experience be considered?
Yes. Research and relevant industry experience are considered alongside academic results and English proficiency.

If my undergraduate institution is not highly ranked but my GPA is strong, will my application still be considered?
Yes. Applications are assessed holistically; a strong GPA can strengthen your application alongside relevant experience.

If my GPA is modest but I have relevant work experience, will this strengthen my application?
Yes. Relevant work experience is considered together with your academic record and supporting documents.

      Is there an age limit?
No. There is no age criterion, provided you meet the admission requirements.

If my undergraduate research is not fully aligned with the programme I applied for, what should I include?
You may upload supporting documents and explain your background and motivation in your personal statement.

What determines whether I complete the programme in 1 year or up to 2 years?
This depends on your study pace and individual circumstances. Students who take a full academic load each trimester and complete all coursework and the capstone without interruption can typically finish within the minimum of three trimesters (one year).

The maximum duration of six trimesters (two years) allows flexibility for students who study at a reduced load, for example due to work commitments, internships, health, or personal reasons, or who require additional time for project-based components. The programme is structured to enable timely completion while accommodating individual needs without compromising academic standards.

Will NTU provide a project if I do not use my own case?
Yes. By default, the Capstone is completed as a group project based on a complex, real-world AI transformation challenge in a selected industry or enterprise domain provided by the programme.

Do I need strong quantitative skills?
Some core modules involve analytical and quantitative work. Students should be comfortable with basic maths and quantitative analysis, and be prepared to build these skills.

      Applications

When will I receive my application outcome?
Offers are released in batches. Complete applications are reviewed first.

Can I expedite my application if I have another offer deadline?
Yes. If you have another offer with a deadline, you may email the programme team with the offer letter. Where possible, the team may expedite the review or provide an informal indication after internal review.

Why is my application taking longer to review?
We take every application into serious consideration and with a high number of application we receive on a daily basis, the review process takes a significant time. Missing or incomplete documents can delay processing. Please ensure all required documents are uploaded.

      Scholarships

      Are scholarships available?
Scholarships are available for eligible applicants. Awards are competitive and offered on a selective basis. Please refer to the relevant programme webpage for details.

      Careers and staying in Singapore

      Does NTU provide career support?
Yes. Students have access to NTU’s career support services, including career fairs and career development workshops.

Can I stay in Singapore after graduation to look for a job?
This is subject to prevailing immigration regulations. International graduates must secure a suitable role and obtain a valid work pass. Please refer to the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) website for the latest requirements.

      Is on-campus accommodation guaranteed?
No. On-campus housing is limited and allocated through a University process (e.g. ballot). Many students stay off-campus. The University or programme may share external accommodation resources.

      Programme delivery and internships

      What is the programme duration?
Programme duration varies by study mode:

      •Full-time: typically 1 to 2 years
      •Part-time: typically 1.5 to 3 years

Please refer to the respective programme webpage for programme-specific details.

Can I use my company’s own business case for the Capstone?
Possibly. The use of a company-specific business case is considered on a case-by-case basis and is subject to approval, including any required confidentiality arrangements.

Will NTU provide a project if I do not use my own case?
Yes. For programmes with a Capstone, projects are typically conducted in groups and are based on real-world challenges provided by the programme.

When are lessons held? Are they evening classes?
Classes are held on campus at NTU, Singapore. They are not exclusively in the evenings; some are scheduled in the afternoons.

Are internships allowed during the programme?
As the programmes are highly intensive, we do not recommend taking on full-time internships. You may choose to undertake part-time internships during the semester, up to a maximum of 16 hours per week, subjected to prevailing immigration regulations. Please refer to the MOM website for more details

      Programme delivery

Is MSEM suitable for part-time students who are working full-time?
Yes. Part-time study is available. Part-time students should be prepared to attend some classes in the evenings and/or at weekends.

How do I choose a specialisation?
Your choice should be guided by your interests, academic background, and work experience. There is no “better” track. You may also consult faculty for guidance.

How does the capstone project work? Do students source their own projects?
Both options are possible. The programme sources some projects through industry connections, and students may also propose their own. All projects must meet the capstone criteria.
