Admission Procedures for Successful Graduate Applicants

Welcome to NIE! Please read through the admission procedures and take note of the deadlines to complete the various procedures.

All full-time graduate students MUST undergo and pass a medical check-up prior to admission to the University. Students who do not meet the medical check-up criteria cannot be admitted to the University.

Please note that part-time graduate students are exempted from health screening.

The medical check-up should be completed latest by 9 January 2026 via one of the following options:

For ALL Students (Singapore Citizens, Singapore Permanent Residents and International Students):

  • selected Raffles Medical clinics in Singapore (refer to Table 1 below for the list of clinics)
  • selected Fullerton Health clinics in Singapore (refer to Table 1 below for the list of clinics)
  • the campus clinic “Raffles Medical @ NTU” will operate the NTU Campus clinic from 1st January 2026
  • the campus clinic “Fullerton Health @ NTU”, University Health Service Building till 31 December 2025 or
  • any registered physician in Singapore

For International Students only:

  •  selected Raffles Medical Clinics Overseas (refer to Table 1 below for the list of clinics)
  • any licensed medical clinic in your home country

Items to Bring

You will need to bring the following document(s) along with you for your medical check-up appointment:

(a)  Medical Check-up Form (MC1)

The MC1 form is applicable to all students. You may refer to the  MC1 Form Guide on how to complete your medical history.

(b)  Medical Examination Report

This is an additional form required by the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) for Full-time international students to apply for their Student's Pass. The Singapore ICA requires all international students to undergo a medical check-up, including an HIV test and a chest X-ray for Tuberculosis clearance, as part of the Student's Pass application process.

Please upload the completed Medical Examination Report to the ICA portal before travelling to Singapore for early approval of Student Pass application. Ensure the medical report was issued within the last three months for it to be valid with ICA. If the report is not in English, please provide a certified English translation.

It is important to note that full-time international students who do not clear health screening will need to return to their home country at their own costs. Failure to clear health screening shall include, but is not limited to, any testing with positive results of the abovementioned or any other medical conditions as advised by the clinic, hospital and/or medical authorities.

Endorsement of MC1 Form

If you have your medical check-up at a clinic other than Fullerton Health (until 31 December 2025) or Raffles Medical, please submit your documents (medical report, MC1 form, etc.) through the endorsement portal:

The documents should be translated in English, if applicable. An endorsement fee of $16.35 (including GST) is payable. This endorsement must be completed before the start of your university study to activate your student medical insurance. Students with incomplete reports or questionable results that do not meet the requirements will be asked to re-do or add on further tests at additional costs by Raffles Medical @ NTU (e.g. X-Ray image did not carry a label bearing the full name of the student or X ray film is unclear).

Fitness Status

Upon completion of your medical check-up, the clinic will notify NIE directly on whether you are fit to commence the graduate programme in the upcoming semester.

Important Information for Female Students

  • Female students are advised to wear a plain T-shirt (one-colour only) with no buttons, logo, emblem or pattern. This allows the X-ray to be taken without any change of clothes. Otherwise, you may have to purchase and change into a disposable gown for the X-ray examination.

  • For female students who are expecting their menstrual period to coincide with the health screening, please arrange for an appointment date that is at least one week after the last day of your period. This is to avoid having to come back a second time to complete the urine test, as an ongoing or recent period will interfere with the results of the urine test.
