His research focuses on stochastic processes in coastal systems, water wave mechanics, beach processes, and advanced wave and current measurement techniques, particularly using X-band marine radar and remote sensing technologies.

Meyer Chair Professor at the National University of Singapore. He has been a Visiting Professor at the Singapore Membrane Technology Center at Nanyang Technological University since 2008.
