Industry Sponsored FYP
Real Industry Problems. Real Engineering Solutions. Real Talent Development.
The IS-FYP programme connects NTU MAE final year students with industry partners to work on real engineering challenges over a full academic year. Companies gain fresh ideas and technical exploration — students gain deep, practical, industry-ready experience.
Spanning two academic semesters, the IS-FYP serves as a capstone project where students apply the theoretical knowledge and practical skills developed through their coursework and prior work attachments.
Build solutions. Develop talent. Drive innovation — together.
🎯 Why IS-FYP Matters
IS-FYP goes beyond academic projects. It creates structured, industry-linked engineering work that delivers practical outcomes and professional exposure.
Industry-defined problem statements
Joint supervision by faculty and industry mentors
Year-long deep technical engagement
Practical deliverables and measurable outcomes
Strong university–industry collaboration platform
🔧 Project Scope Areas
Projects may span Mechanical, Aerospace, and Robotics Engineering, including:
- Product & system development
- Simulation and computer modelling
- Design, build & test projects
- Experimental investigations
- Applied engineering analysis
All projects must demonstrate clear industrial relevance and engineering depth.
Projects with a large scope may be divided into multiple parts (i.e. part I, II and etc.) with a distince and sufficient scope.
📊 Structured & Supported
Every IS-FYP project includes:
- Joint supervision (Faculty + Industry)
- Kick-off, interim, and final reviews
- Interim Report and Presentation
- Formal Report and Oral Presentation upon completion
Students are graded by NTU MAE faculty under university academic standards.
📅 Flexible Entry Routes
Projects can be initiated through:
- Faculty–industry collaborations
- Direct company proposals (via IS-FYP e-form)
- Extension from internship or professional attachment projects
- Two project cycles run each year for flexible participation.
📌Final Year Project (FYP) Timeline
There are two FYP cycles each calendar year, allowing students to commence their Final Year Project in either Semester 1 or Semester 2.
