CNYSP Research Experience
The CN Yang Scholars Programme (CNYSP) provides many opportunities for scholars to engage in undergraduate research. Through these projects, CN Yang Scholars have the chance to contribute to advancing the frontiers of knowledge in their fields of study. Undergraduate research also serves as valuable preparation for advanced post-graduate studies, as well as future careers in research and development.
CY1500 Introduction to Research
2 AU | Year 1 Semester 1
This introductory course, specially designed for CN Yang Scholars, develops your understanding of how academic research is conducted. It includes lectures on important issues such as how to interpret scientific data, and a project to review the academic literature on a chosen research topic under the mentorship of senior researchers.
CY2003 Research Attachment III
4 AU | Year 1 Special Term
Taken during the Special Term at the end of Year 1, this course teaches you practical "maker" skills that can be applied to open-ended problems. You will engage in a guided design project, working in a team with members from different disciplines, with the goal of creating a prototype device to address a real-world challenge.
CY2001 Research Attachment 1
4 AU | Year 2
During your second year as a CN Yang Scholar, you will embark on an undergraduate research project in any field of your choice, under the supervision of an NTU faculty member.
Overseas Final Year Project
For Science Majors: 12 AU, 8 months (usually Year 3 Special Term to Year 4 Semester 1)
For Engineering/Computing majors: 8 AU, 5 months (usually Year 4 Semester 1 or Year 4 Semester 2)
In your final year as a CN Yang Scholar, you may choose to do a Final Year Project at a leading overseas university of your choice, with financial support from the programme. This provides a unique opportunity to experience how research is performed in a global setting.
