Guide for New Users

Before beginning work at a research laboratory or other workplace at CCEB, new users must complete the following procedures of the specific locations.

1. CCEB Safety Training Requirement

Before being granted access to any laboratory facility, you must first do the following:

2. Enrolment for Safety Courses (Student Researchers)

  1. Access NTULearn from Student Intranet
  2. Scroll down to "Self-Enrolment Courses" on Institution Page within NTULearn
  3. Click the “Show All” link to list all courses available
  4. Click the link to enroll in the necessary safety courses
  5. View the course material
  6. Take the quiz to complete the course
  7. Check your grade

4. Risk Assessment

Complete Workplace Risk Assessment or a copy of the Risk Communication Form after attend safety briefing conduct by supervisor / lab manager.

For associate NTU account holder, please use the attached template to complete the risk assessment and seek approval from your supervisor. ( Template )

5. Online lab access application

6. Statutory Medical Examination

Individuals whose work involve the use or handling or exposure to the substances shown in the table below are required to undergo medical examinations. You are responsible to inform your PI / Supervisor / Safety Officer.

  1. Chemical users are to complete this online form. Online SME Registration
  2. Upon submission, please proceed to visit NTU clinic 3 working days after submission of form. 
  3. For external clinic selection, please select your preferred appointment date and the clinic staff will contact you to confirm the appointment details.
  4. Please provide WBS account no. for deduction of medical examinations expenses.

7. PPE Requirement

Check with your supervisor (RO or PI) on what Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) you need, and where to collect or purchase them. Ask also for any other specific safety requirements that you need to know.

After this, once your lab access request is granted, you are all set to go. Remember to observe the safety rules; if in doubt, ask your supervisor or colleagues. Stay safe and work safe!

  4. Users must put on required PPE in the lab, failure to do so will result in one week ban from using the lab.
