Global Exposure
Nanyang Business School (NBS) emphasises international exposure as a core element of our business education. We strive to develop leaders with a global perspective, drawing on NTU’s strong international reputation and global networks. ACE continually partners with employers with a global footprint to enable rich immersive experiences for our business undergraduates through overseas internships and business study missions. In so doing, ACE empowers students with cross‑border insights and culturally agile leadership capabilities.

“Over the course of 10 weeks, I immersed myself in both upstream and downstream operations at Oil Palm companies. From nursery operations and palm maintenance to the complexities of palm oil production, I was able to contribute by streamlining data processes and enhancing operational efficiencies at the Sango Bay Project. This hands-on exposure has not only deepened my understanding of the commodities sector but also opened my eyes to the vast opportunities within this industry.
Beyond the technical skills, this experience broadened my perspective on the global impact of commodities and reinforced the importance of sustainable practices.”
SABRINA LIM
Bachelor of Business
“The internship was extremely eye-opening and meaningful. It was highly relevant to my International Trading Programme (ITP), as it provided real global exposure and allowed me to understand how agricultural business operations function in general.
Beyond technical knowledge, the experience helped me develop important life skills such as cooking independently, fishing, and navigating using maps in a rural environment. I also strengthened my soft skills, particularly communication, adaptability, and collaboration, as I worked with colleagues and workers from fundamentally different cultural and social backgrounds. The experience pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me become more independent and resilient.
Be open-minded and step out of your comfort zone. Don’t be afraid to explore unfamiliar environments or take on challenging opportunities, even if they seem daunting at first. An overseas internship, especially in the Africa, may not always be easy, but the experiences, perspectives, and personal growth you gain will be invaluable and will stay with you throughout your life.“

“I wanted an internship that moved beyond a traditional office setting and allowed me to see how commercial research and sales strategies are executed in challenging logistical environments. Working as a Commercial Analyst, I had the chance to travel to various provinces to understand local demand and see how branch operations functioned firsthand. It pushed me to be highly adaptable and gave me a deep appreciation for the practical side of global commerce.
The most memorable part was seeing how data translates into the movement of physical goods across adiverse geography. I learned that in international business, understanding the "vibes" and cultural context of a location is just as critical as technical analysis. Navigating the logistical complexities of the supply chain there was a masterclass in operational problem-solving!”
