Dapeng Hu

Global Head of Aladdin Energy and Climate Analytics (ECA) at BlackRock

Dapeng is responsible for the development of energy and climate  analytics as well as data and analytics for infrastructure investment within Aladdin, BlackRock's portfolio management and enterprise risk management system. He also drives the analytics engagement with users in BlackRock and clients. Dapeng co-founded the Aladdin Sustainability Lab (ASL) in 2021, a vertical organization including research, development and commercial within the Aladdin business. He also served as the Co-Chair of ASL since 2023.

Before that, he was the Co-Head of the Financial Modeling Group (FMG), Head of the Single Security Modeling, and Head of Mortgage and Structured Finance Research and Modeling, In these roles, he was responsible for defining and executing financial models in Aladdin, focusing on security valuation models, simulation, data science, and overall FMG infrastructure and technology. An industry renown mortgage and structured products expert, Dapeng has advised many large financial institutions and regulators such as Federal Reserve Bank of New York, US Treasury, FDIC, FHFA, JPMorgan, Citi, AIG etc.   

Prior to joining BlackRock in 2003, Dr. Hu was with Wells Fargo as a Director of Financial Modeling from 2001 to 2003. From 2000 to 2001, he was with Citigroup as Vice President of Empirical Modeling. In these positions, Dr. Hu supported mortgage servicing valuations, whole loan portfolio management, and MBS trading. From 1998 to 2000, Dr. Hu was a member of the research faculty in the Real Estate Department at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

 Dr. Hu earned a BS degree from Peking University, an MS degree from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania.
