Research Brief

Qiaofang's research investigates how Spring Festival illustration serves as a medium for transmitting and transforming colour culture across Chinese and Singaporean contexts. It examines how traditional color symbolism—particularly the festive hues of red and gold—functions as both cultural continuity and reinterpretation in contemporary visual communication. By integrating perspectives from color semiotics, cross-cultural design and narrative illustration, the study explores how visual design mediates emotion, identity and meaning in intercultural contexts. The research contributes to advancing theoretical understanding of color culture and its evolving communicative role in global visual design practices.
