Research Brief

Don's research explores how grid design systems can support cognitive and creative development in preschool children aged 5–6. Grounded in design theory and child development, the study examines how structured visual frameworks can enhance organisation, sequencing, attention and creative autonomy in early learning. Through designed classroom exercises, children’s visual outputs and observed behaviours will be analysed using thematic and behavioural approaches. The findings aim to identify current learning patterns and explore how grids can function as effective teaching tools, helping children balance order with imagination and demonstrating how design practice can nurture creative learning.
