Research Brief

Xinyue’s doctoral research examines female representation in contemporary Chinese television drama, with a particular focus on elite women. Integrating case studies, digital ethnography and practice-based research, her project explores how neoliberal ideology and gender politics intersect to shape production strategies and audience engagement in China’s streaming era. Her research also includes a creative component that complements the critical analysis through practice.
